2025 Online Winter Exhibition

2025 Winter Virtual Exhibition Welcome Message

Welcome to the 2025 virtual Winter Exhibition of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana, Seattle Branch. The Sogetsu School of Ikebana was founded in Tokyo in 1927 by Sofu Teshigahara, with the intent of transforming the ancient floral art of ikebana into a modern art form that could be practiced by anyone, at any time anywhere in the world, with any available materials.

Although our branch has resumed in-person exhibitions, members voted to continue posting online exhibitions to reach an audience beyond the Greater Seattle area. We hope you enjoy the photos of 65 ikebana arrangements created by members, and the 5 demonstration videos presented by branch teachers. In this virtual exhibition, we have listed the materials used for each arrangement and the theme and/or textbook lesson depicted (where applicable) as well as the creator of each composition. We thank all Sogetsu Seattle Branch members and teachers who participated in this exhibition. The work of exhibition co-chairs Licia Shinzato-Fischer and Saori Tachibana, as well as webmaster Megumi Bailey, was also critical for bringing the exhibition to fruition.

Instructions for viewing the exhibition and demonstrations are shown below. We also invite you to view information and photos in the public areas of our branch website here: https://seattlesogetsu.wixsite.com/home

Wishing you good health and happiness,

Diane Elliott
